New website launches to inspire public interest in eclipses
A new website, ukeclipse.com, has launched to help more people across the UK discover and enjoy eclipses.
The site covers both solar and lunar eclipses. It offers simple guides, safety advice, viewing tips, and updates on upcoming eclipse events. Its first major focus is the partial solar eclipse on 12 August 2026, which will be visible across much of the UK and is expected to attract significant public interest.
The website is a partnership between Go Stargazing and First Light Optics. Together, they bring expertise in astronomy outreach and observing equipment. Additional partners are contributing educational content, observing advice, and resources to help people enjoy eclipses safely.
As interest grows ahead of the 2026 eclipse, the site will also highlight trusted retailers that supply safe solar viewing equipment, including certified eclipse glasses and solar filters for telescopes and binoculars.

A key feature of the site is its growing database of public eclipse events. Visitors can find local astronomy societies, observatories, community groups, and public viewing events. The aim is to help more people experience eclipses safely and share the experience with others.
By bringing together education, event listings, and practical advice, ukeclipse.com aims to become the UK’s leading source of eclipse information and public participation.
