 ids meteor shower.\n\nAs the Sun begins to set\, witness a rare partial so
 lar eclipse as the Moon passes in front of the Sun\, creating a fascinatin
 g celestial spectacle low in the western sky. Experienced astronomers will
  be on hand to guide observations\, explain the science behind eclipses\, 
 and answer your questions about our nearest star.\n\nSolar viewing glasses
  will be available courtesy of Go Stargazing\, ensuring visitors can obser
 ve the eclipse safely.\n\nAs darkness falls\, the evening continues with v
 iewing of the Perseids meteor shower\, one of the highlights of the astron
 omical calendar. Produced by Earth passing through the debris stream left 
 behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle\, the Perseids are renowned for their bright 
 meteors and occasional fireballs.\n\nVisitors will have the opportunity to
  explore the night sky from one of the UK's most historic observatories\, 
 with telescopes available and expert guidance throughout the evening.\n\nP
