Piazzi Smyth Observatory
Bedford School, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK40 2LD
Join the Bedford Astronomical Society at the historic Piazzi Smyth Observatory, Bedford School, for a special observing session during the partial solar eclipse on 12 August.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the eclipse safely through a variety of specially equipped solar telescopes, including instruments showing the Sun in both white light and Hydrogen-alpha. These different observing methods reveal fascinating solar features, from sunspots on the Sun's surface to dramatic prominences and activity within its atmosphere.
The Bedford Astronomical Society will also be operating several smart telescopes throughout the event, providing enhanced live views and images of the eclipse as it unfolds.
The observatory is located near the tennis courts off Pemberley Avenue, the group plan to setup in the nearby field.
Whether you're an experienced observer or witnessing a solar eclipse for the first time, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore our nearest star and enjoy this celestial event in the company of fellow astronomy enthusiasts.
